Those are just some of the more popular ways people are living the dot com lifestyle. It is absolutely possible for anyone to live the dot com lifestyle. As long as you treat it as a real business and willing to do what it takes, I think anyone can get results.
Work from home or work from anywhere around the world.
Being able to work from home is what attracts most to live the dot com lifestyle. Or, you’ve always wanted to travel around the world, with your own business both are possible. You can stay in instead of waking up every day to drive to work. I personally prefer traveling to exotic places with white sandy beaches. It helps me clear my mind and actually get more work done. I can safely say that I’ve traveled to over 15 different countries so far. Ultimately, I would like to hit at least 50 in my lifetime. I’ve managed to gain friends from all over the world and they tell me their country is a must visit.
Work when you want to work.
One thing that has always been mentioned in my early years that I hate. The 40/40/40 rule. They say you should work for 40 hours a week, for 40 years, and retire off 40% of that income. I’ve personally seen parents of friends and family struggle after following this rule. The crash of 2008 totally wiped out their savings so they had to go back to work. The last thing I want to do is depend on social security that probably won’t even exist by the time I hit the average retirement age. I’m making sure I have my own source of funds. I’m really acting as if social security will be wiped out.
Spend more time with the people that mean most to you.
This is the most important part for me. You see, in 1995 right after I graduated from high school, my father had a stroke. By default I became the man of the household. I’m able to still hang out with my father daily with the freedom of time. I appreciate this part of the dot com lifestyle the most and wouldn’t trade for anything. I’ve been offered six-figure positions but working 9 to 5 isn’t for me.
Make a difference.
Before you decide to jump in and build your path into the ultimate dot com lifestyle, you need to ask yourself why. Do you hate your job? Do you want to make more money? What would this really mean to you if you were able to succeed with your own online business?
What would you do when you achieve the dot com lifestyle? Would you buy a new house? Buy a new car? Save for your kids college fund? Would you help others gain financial freedom?
If it’s just for money then you’ll have a hard time succeeding. But if you have a purpose and can actually help people then your off to a good start. When I first started I primarily thought about how much money can be made because I saw people making millions. I didn’t start making money online until I provided value to help others succeed. Think about that for minute. Providing solutions to problems. If you can do that, you’ll never run out of business.
